Face The Holidays With Nutrition Tips

This is the time of year when food temptations soar.  Maybe your children have stocked your home with bags and bags of trick-or-treat candy or maybe you are already planning your family’s Thanksgiving Feast.  Whatever the temptation, here are a few tips to help you avoid giving in to the holiday binge.

  •  Don’t set yourself up for failure by forbidding the “good stuff”.  Allow yourself to enjoy your holiday favorites in small quantities.  One-half a cup or a 200-calorie allotment is a safe amount.  If you want more, remind yourself you can have it tomorrow.
  •  Give it away.  Divide your goodies into small quantities on disposable plates and share it with family, friends, & neighbors.
  • Keep nutritious, low calorie snacks available.  Crunchy fruits & vegetables will satisfy the urge to overindulge.
